About Western Focus Community organisation
"WEFOCO
has come a long way—starting with nothing to where we are today. Together, we
can transform lives in ways we never could alone."
— Esther
N. Mumia, Founder & Director
Founded
in 2004 as a self-help group and officially registered in 2009, WEFOCO drives
sustainable, community-led initiatives across Western Kenya.
Our
Mission: To build self-sustaining community
initiatives that elevate local welfare.
Our Vision: To reach every vulnerable child in our community, directly or indirectly.
Our Strategic Approach
· Education: With 25% of primary and 75% of secondary-aged children in
Shianda unable to afford schooling, we keep kids in the classroom and away from
child labor.
· HIV/AIDS
Advocacy: Reducing infection rates and
eliminating stigma through community counseling, care networks, and family
support.
· Income
Generation: Tackling poverty at the root by
equipping locals with actionable business skills and economic opportunities.
· Capacity
Building: Empowering remote and underserved
populations with skills to overcome systemic exclusion.
· Gender Equality: Challenging discrimination, giving women a voice, and
advocating for equal rights and economic independence.
